It's Sunday, right?!?

Since I left the house Thursday morning, the days have been a blur. The drive was in one word - shitty. I think I drove through all possible forms of precipitation - snow, sleet, rain, hail, 'wintry mix,' and fog. Not fun, but with the XM Satellite radio blasting, I could barely hear the wind.

It was strange Thursday night at my parent's house - I can't remember the last time it was the four of us. I'd picked up my sister (and her four month old) and chauffeured her to my parents. Her car is not the best for wintry driving and we didn't quite know what we'd be up against. Though we tried to go to bed at a decent hour, I don't know that anyone had a good night's sleep.

With at 4:45 wake up call, we were at the hospital by 5:30. Two pagers and three waiting rooms later, they were rolling my dad toward surgery at 7:30. It was difficult to see someone I'd always believed to be invincible to be rolled away on a gurney.

Surgery took a bit longer than expected, but the doctor was pleased with the result. Pathology will be back in a few days, and we'll have a better idea of what we're dealing with.

Friday, pretty much high on multiple painkillers, my dad alternated between joking around and sleeping. I took my sister home late in the afternoon. Yesterday, was not nearly as good. Today has been better. Having been on a liquid diet yesterday and so far today, he's looking forward to a little food today. Hopefully everything will cooperate. The doctor has referred to his recovery as 'textbook.'

I'll head home sometime today, but for now I'm content to sit in the corner alternating between reading and crochet.

Thanks for all the well wishes, I really, really appreciate it.
