Just not doing it for me

So help me. It's been three weeks since I've been to the gym. Hopped on the elliptical, set up the ipod and got started. After 10 minutes I was bored. Completely bored. The gym just wasn't doing it for me. So I did what I'm apt to do - I made a deal with myself.

Self, I said, I'm getting off after 15 mintues and doing 2 rounds of weights. When we get home, I PROMISE to go on a bike ride with the kids.

The kids were surprised when I picked them up after 30 minutes. I blasted through the weights. On the ride home, while deciding which park to go to, we came across a new park. It was decided. I marked the distance - a little over 2 miles. Might not seem like much, but for little legs, that's plenty. We decided that The Boy should ride in the trailer with The Baby. Plenty of work for me - hauling 100 wiggling, backseat-driving pounds.

That, and my granny gears don't work. Got my bike off a neighbor's garage sale. POS. I can work 5 of my 27 gears. POS. So I usually end up pushing my bike while the kids heckle me from the trailer. Mommy, why are you walking? Mommy, are we there yet? Mommy, why are you sweaty? Mommy, how much longer? Mommy, mommy, mommy...

Got home, packed a cooler with a picnic lunch and off we went. The kids had a lot of fun and I did a little workout using the picnic table. The ride home was much easier - more downhill. Mommy, why are we going so fast? Mommy, can we stop at that park? Mommy, mommy, mommy...

Would the downhills of a bike ride be as sweet without the uphill?
