Memory Quilt aka Baby Clothes Quilt

I have really, really enjoyed this project.

She gave me way, way too many clothes - I probably only needed 1/4 of what she sent.
I cut them into useable pieces first, then into 4.5 inch squares. She wanted 'no real pattern, just throw them all together.' I can't quite do that, as I don't want the colors to bunch up too much.

A sampling of the girl's clothes:

And the boy's:
I divided both into four similar groupings then combined one boy and one girl and started piecing.
After all the cutting, the piecing went very quick. Wonderfully quick.
Not completely done, but I like how it's coming out so far. This one will be 48" x 72". I'm going to do a large meander for the quilting. She wants in backed in brown and edged in red. I think it will look fabulous.

If you are interested in something like this, feel free to email me at swiperbootsdora (at) gmail (dot) com.

My only issue with this was the pictures. Do you even know how hard it is to get a picture in my house that doesn't involve a stack of the kids' papers, a cabinet door open, or a sink full of dishes?

Good job! What a great way to keep ALL of those tons of clothes that you just can't give away.

I know what you mean about the picture taking! It's hard to showcase a beautiful quilt with a bunch of mess around it.

I was equally horrified to see a mountain of dirty dishes in the background of my halloween pictures. Betrayed by the sink!!
