First Quilt Top of 2009
As a confessed pack-rat, I tend to have emotional attachments to things I really shouldn't be attached to.
Case in point - my grandparents old curtains:
I can't even remember for sure what room they were in - but I'm thinking their bedroom. In going through my mom's fabric stash, I came across them - tattered and torn as they are - and couldn't let them go.
Someday, somehow, a project would present itself.
And the other day it did - McCall's Quick Quilts March 2009 Edition. They called it "moderne bliss." I call it argyle:
The blue isn't quite as blue in person. Someday I'll get a little better with my photography. And I'm not done just yet. I'm planning a wide border on the top and bottom to make it rectangular and twin sized. Either that or I'll make a few more blocks and make it longer that way. All the fabric was from my stash - though I'm not sure how I'll back it.
This was a very quick quilt indeed. I cut the fabric and sewed it in a day. I will say it would have gone faster had I used the strip piecing they recommended. Instead I sort-of fussy cut the curtain fabric, and ended up cutting the other squares to make it easier for me. I'd like to do this pattern again with other fabrics as well - it would make a great quilt for a guy.
...
Have a great day - I'm off to work on my Dear Jane blocks...
