State of the Union

The spouse and I had a discussion last night.

Oy.

We came to an agreement. I think. He's more of a 'clean it up as you go' type and I'm more of a 'pick one time and do it once.'

Can you see where this is going? He came home early last night. And not just a little bit. Nearly two hours.

I had just finished this:

End of the year teacher gift. Another parent had cut all the fabric, distributed the supplies, and collected them. She was looking for some sewing help. Another parent and I offered. I'm giving it back, and she'll do the quilting and I'll help get the binding on. Overall, I think it's a great idea.

Now. You can only guess the state of the house.

Nothing that 10 minutes wouldn't fix.

His argument is that we should 'clean up as we go.' I told him if I did that, that's all I would get done - a day of nagging at the kids to pick up. It works for me to call the kids in at five (or when things start spinning out of control), and have them take 15 minutes and 'tidy up.' I don't tell him how to do his job, ya know? Either that, or call me when you're on your way home...

Anyway.

On to other things...

I finished this one for my oldest. Now all three have their own quilt.

It was a jelly roll of fabric - "Strawberry Lemonade". I saved out the 'white' strips for the binding - and sewed them together randomly. I really, really like how this one turned out.

Finally... I have a double-secret-probation (name that movie!) project I'm working on - Can't wait to share it, but it's a surprise, so you'll have to wait!

The only reason I know that's from "Animal House" is because we ran a "Toga Party"-themed water stop at a local marathon, and one of the other volunteers made signs!

I'm in your corner on this one. Hope he starts calling on his way home so you can keep your strategy in play.

The teacher gift quilt looks awesome! What a great idea. And I love that you are "just helping" with it. That's great that there are other crafty moms in the class too!

Can't wait to see the double secret project. I'm sure it will be great.

Now if you can just think of something great I can do for teacher gifts, I just realized I forgot to handle that before my life changes next week and I wish I had gotten it done already!

I so understand what you are saying! Why waste energy when the end result is the same! Hopefully next time he will call you before he gets home!

Love your teacher's gift and I know that she will too!

Thanks for sharing!

I am totally in your camp, too. I think it is completely different when you are at home during the day and the house is actually used more, kwim?

LOVE the teacher's quilt! That is so very neat.

Oldest's quilt is gorgeous!!

And the super secret project is going to be the bomb.

Gorgeous quilt. You are right. Your husband's theory will be fantastic when the kids are grown.

I mean seriously, you would get NOTHING done if you picked up all day long. I'm with you on this one. And why does he care anyway if it's usually picked up when he gets home?

Of course, I came home to a disastrous mess but two very happy campers to have me home. Probably because I pick up.

Love the new quilt, btw. Really, those colors are fantastic.

Honestly, what does he care if he is not there to see it!? I am a little of both styles, though so I can see both sides.

And the quilts are awesome. You are so talented!
