Project: Want versus need

Sometimes you just have to put the Need down, and work on a Want.

Remember this?
I bought the squares off etsy... Mainly because I know The Boy would love the colors. That and they were already made. They were pretty square for the most part, but some of them were slightly off size. I made due and just went with it.

For batting this time I'm using the $8 twin size IKEA comforter. Knowing I'll need a few inches around the outside for quilting purposes, I'm not too concerned about the size.
I started by adding a red border. I have a terrible time matching reds. The border is a 'blue red' and the squares are an 'orange red.'

Still needs something...

That's better.

Now the 'fun' part - if swearing and ripping seams is 'fun.' I think the finished product will be pretty nice, even if there are a few small tucks in the backing.
And see that? A new-to-me machine. The other day mine was dying a slow death so I called my neighbor. She'd told me awhile back if I ever had in machine issues to call her, that she had three machines and I could certainly borrow one. She's a quilter too.
This is what she gave me:
Yes. I said gave. As in, "My husband will be so excited this is out of the house."
She wouldn't even take any money - and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
I very nearly cried. I'm trying to think of something nice to do for her. Maybe a hot pack?

...
Reminder... Today is the last day for the March Madness drawing!

It's never occurred to me to use a quilt as wadding. You've given me some great ideas here. I love the colours together. I think the varying shades look rather nice.
