Mommy will clean it up.

That's right.

At 2:30 am.

At 3:00 am.

At 3:30 am.

And every half hour until 6 am when your husband walks in the door after getting home on the red-eye. My poor husband walked in the door to see our bed covered in towels and a sicky Toddler. I'm pretty sure I mumbled something about, "Find someplace else to sleep." He paused. Then I explained the early morning activity and he was more than happy to oblige. Who was he to argue - I looked like I'd escaped from an insane asylum - my hair was all whacked out from rushedly getting vomit out of my hair, my eyes were practically swollen shut from lack of sleep, and I think my shirt was on backwards.

The toddler had something in her tummy that wanted out.

o.u.t.

Good or bad, the first (and worst) of it was when she sat up and promptly barfed on me. My jammies, my face, my hair, and I even had to pick some out of my eyebrows. Why would that be good? It wasn't all over my bed. Bad? Do I have to spell it out?

The best way I've found to handle this is Beach Towels. A lot of them. Put one under where the child sleeps, one wrapped around the pillow, and one used as a "blanket." The last part is especially valuable if you child isn't old enough to get to the bathroom in time. Also, have a laundry basket handy. Every time the child gets sick, throw the used towels in the laundry basket to deal with at a more reasonable hour. Rinse, lather, repeat until the vomiting stops. I think we went through about 10 towels, three pair of toddler jammies, and two pair of Mommy jammies.

I did explain that if she needed to 'barf' - to go ahead and sit up and use the towel. Though I was careful to explain that if she had an 'accident,' it was ok. "I know," she replied, "Mommy will clean in up."

You bet, dear heart, I will.

For now, she's resting.

Resting with one of my most cherished possessions. My kids call it the "Mommy Blanket." My maternal grandma made it for me for my fourth birthday. It never fails to help the kids feel better.

Or me.

Otherwise...

I've been finishing up old projects. I managed to get the quilting done yesterday. Now I just need to bind it off and I'll be done.

Starting new projects...

The next door neighbor girl is leaving for college shortly, and I'm making her a quilt out of her favorite colors: orange, hot pink, and lime green.
And making something for myself...

ugh, gross--i HATE puke. can't believe bob is almost 6 and i haven't had to deal with that yet. (knock wood--knock wood HARD.) although, it may be that i earned some points with his first reflux-filled year.

your quilts amaze me. where did you get that flower fabric that i said closely resembled my curtains? and do they have any more?

Oh, holy damn. I mean, that's a lot of puking, especially when you have to pick it out of your eyebrows.

Hope she feels better soon and you get some rest. And I want to see what you're making yourself....

I don't know who I feel worse for...you or her.

Hailey had a vomit attack recently. Made me so glad she's past the spit-up stage but i thought I'd never get the vomit smell out of the house.

Sending you healing and aromatic thoughts, my friend.

I hate those days. And I'm stunned that you told your husband to find somewhere else to sleep. I'm pretty sure my inner-bitch would have said something along the lines of "your turn," as I headed for the farthest corner of the house.

I hope she's feeling better.
