Camping
This weekend, we're heading to my aunt and uncle's second Farm. Unlike the other farm, which houses corn and beans, this one is simply land. I'm not sure how many acres it is, but it's enough for plenty of exploring, room for kids to play, and most importantly, target practice. Seems a little competition has been set in place - the guys (that hunt) and the girls (that don't).
Several years ago, I headed up to my grandparents' for Thanksgiving. Grandpa and Grandma had decided it was time to let the old house go. The old house being the first house they'd lived in over fifty years ago. It had housed other families since, but had fallen into complete disrepair.
The solution?
Burn it down.
No, I'm not kidding.
First, we had a nice, traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Saved the cans too. Headed out to the old house. Took one last look around. Touched the faded and peeling wallpaper. Caught the smell of racoons living in the basement. Headed out.
Before the fire took place, we took turns shooting out the windows.
No, I'm not kidding.
Then, the uncles headed to the basement with a bottle of kerosene.
You know how in the movies, there's a thin trail of something flamable and one little spark sets it off? Didn't quite work out that way, but soon enough the fire was going.
It burned fast and hot. Very fast. Very hot.
When all was said and done, we headed back to my grandparents. We only sat for a short time before deciding to fill the cans with water.
You know what comes next... Don't you?
Target practice.
We'll see how the competition plays out this weekned.
I doubt we'll burn anything down, though.

That Thanksgiving sounded like it was tremendous fun.
Sounds like something my family would do.
Okay, sounds like something my family has done.
....okay, I've done it!
Did you know that video tapes explode like mini fireworks if you hit them directly on the reel? It's fun!
