Make a promise, keep a promise...

I'm starting my days a bit differently than I have in the past. I now aim to wake up 15 minutes before the kids. I pad quietly downstairs and turn on the news. Yes news. I sit on the floor and stretch for five minutes. I take the other ten to unload the dishwasher and start a load of laundry.

After breakfast, cleaning up the kitchen, and getting the Big Girl off to school, I head to the office. There, I plan my day. What am I going to accomplish? What needs to be done? Today: drycleaners, post office, gym, and - oh yea -today the water park.
Today we ventured off the beaten path. This is the same place my daughter went yesterday for the birthday party. I guess that means they're even. It's about 15-20 minutes away. Just far enough that it feels like a real adventure to the kids. Nice thing, though, is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9 am to 11 am, they turn off the spouting water. Makes it more comfortable for the wee ones. The Boy, at four, was a bit disappointed that the small waterslide (there are two bigger ones as well) didn't have any water going down it. He did discover that he only squeaked down the first time. The second, third, fourth, etc he flew right down. The Toddler even took a couple turns going down as well. It was just perfect for her to have everything off. We were there about an hour, and that was just about right. The cost for this? 1 adult + 2 kids = $5. I'll take it. It gives the Toddler a good chance to get used to the water. She's pretty brave - she walked up until it was to her chin and didn't freak out in the slightest. It didn't get much deeper than that.We packed a substantial snack thinking they could eat on the way to the gym. Cheese, crackers, juice box, fruit snack. It did the trick. We made it to the gym and I was able to get my three miles in early, rather than try and squish in around dance. Kudos to my pal Tree, who suggested to vary my speed and/or incline to beat the Treadmill Blues. I ended up doing the best three miles of my training so far.
It's been helping me so much to have a rough schedule for the day. It's been a lovely day so far - I did end up going to the drycleaners, the post office, and even got the car washed. But it's also important to include new and different things... Why?

Because when you're four, belly flops are fun.

I wish you were my mom!
Makes me long for summer. We are headed off to the indoor pool for a party next month. Should be a hoot.

Good for you. I've been talking about how I need to get up early and get moving before the kids. You are inspiring me to get moving!

How did you manage to take pictures *and* participate? I have a hard enough time keeping track of just my 2.5 year old by myself at the pool.

Looks like a blast. Our only indoor pool costs $5 per person!!! And its tiny!

1g2b - it was fun! An hour was just about right.

heather - oh, we did. The time flew by.

g-man - have fun at you're party!

momish - thanks! we still have a bit of snow... more to come.

greeblemonkey - manna. I couldn't agree more.

lotta - just take it one day at a time. some mornings i'm only up about 5 minutes - but still - it's so nice.

leeanthro - there was only one other child there when I was taking pictures - so I didn't worry to much about them getting lost, and there was a lifeguard on duty.

mw - something about swimming in February is so decadent.
