5k
So after my 5ish mile excursion with the littles on Tuesday, I've decided it's time to get a bit more serious about my running. And by serious I mean huffing and puffing outside, not lollygagging on the elliptical at the gym. Well, I'll lollygag and lift weights on MWF, but TTH I need to start putting some miles on - preferrably without the kids. Otherwise, I'll have to push the baby (32 pounds), the boy (40 pounds), and the jogging stroller (25 pounds) while I try and catch my six year old on her bike. She's good though, she gets about 50 - 75 feet in front of me, stops, and patiently waits for me with a water bottle.
Part of the big help is I'm now down 7 pounds. Seven less pounds to haul when I decide to stretch my legs. Seven less pounds I haul up every flight of stairs. Seven less pounds to try and squish in my jeans. I'm in the "Danger Zone" - better known as the weight I get to before I start eating like a pig again thinking I'm OK because I'm "working out". Every day, every hour, I make a point not to overeat. Every day I log what I eat and I'm reaping the rewards.
I signed up for a 5k with my Dad this July. I'd like to do it in less than 30 minutes. The last time I did that was college. What can I say? I'm built for comfort, not for speed.

You can do it!!!
You need to read John Bingham's column "No Need for Speed" in Runner's World. I know you can meet your goal, G.
