Can you buy happiness?

So here I sit, the second day of '08.

It's 9:51 and I'm still in my jammies.

The kids are pounding away on their Christmas loot.

I've spent the better part of the morning printing shipping labels and generally dicking around on the computer. I found a 16 week marathon training program. Starts Monday. I had planned to do Hal's 18 week plan again, but starting Christmas Day is less than ideal. So... It's not to late if you want to join me. I think Tree's looking to do the full right now. Anne's doing the half.

Alas, it was a good day yesterday:

Lean and lanky. She definitely gets that from her father.

Rather than a traditional cake this year, I made jumbo cupcakes. It's hard to tell from the picture, but they're checkerboard. It was fun, she got to blow out the candles. I managed not to eat a whole cupcake. Yet.

The Dining Room Disaster '07.

This year, I used the dining room as the staging area for all that is Christmas. I spy, with my little eye... My cell phone, and unfinshed quilt, two halogen flashlights, a left over Halloween Gourd, two envelopes that need to be mailed, a stack of planning stuff for the Kindergarten party, and a partridge in a pear tree...

Every time my husband walked past the room, he broke out in a rash.

Sunday, I 'finally' got around to getting it back to normal. At least what passes for normal round here....

All that's left are the kids school pictures, the frames, and the next quilt I have planned. I'm hoping before Friday (at least the top) as my Dad made me a beautiful quilt rack and I want something to hang on it. First, I have one more etsy order to fulfill...

Keeping Christmas Merry.

Two weeks before Christmas, my husband and I were at the liquor store getting our Christmas cheer. We each picked up a bottle of something - SoSo for me, Captain for the mr. - and noted that 'We'll be at the inlaws.' Both of us. Heh.

The aftermath. I like the new plastic bottles - they don't break and aren't nearly as heavy.

I'm trying to think of a good way to close this post, but it's kind of hard with the above picture. Let's just say, it's more economical to buy the bigger bottle for use at home. And yes, it does last a long time.
