Who you gonna call?

Last week was hard. I usually try to look at things with a glass-half-full-somebody-has-it-worse attitude. Last week, I couldn't even do that.

Tuesday was not good. After preschool drop off, I drove to the school trying desperately not to cry. Everything was just so heavy. I managed to help the boy's teacher for my usual two hours with nary a tear.

By the time I got home, like divine intervention, there was a message from my sister. Within minutes we were talking.

My sister. We've had our differences. Some days I look at her and wonder how we came out of the same genetic lottery.

We talked, and talked and talked. I cried quite a bit. She was calm and reassuring. Wednesday, she called me with her worries and concerns. I tried to be calm and reassuring. Thursday, it was my turn to cry again.

Some of what we are dealing with is the same, and some very different, but with both have very full plates right now. Sometimes just talking about it makes all the difference. And knowing she has my back.

And this week? Things are looking much better.

I've always got your back - no matter what! Thanks for the chats this week - and yes, it does help tremendously.

There must be something magical about having a sister. I never had one and feel I've missed out a lot. I watch my girls and sure, they fight and argue, but when they have their little crises they're hugging and supportive - it's great to see. I'm glad you've got that.
