I'm baaaaaack!

I know, I never really went anywhere, but the last few days I've been in a bit of a funk.

One way for me to work my way out of a funk is to finish a project. Friday I spent most of the day basting and then quilting my Curtain Quilt. The kids helped pull the basting stitches out. This is the first quilt I taped the backing down before basting. I couldn't be more pleased with the result!

The other thing that helped my funk:

My husband had an offer to take "any or all" of the kids ice fishing. Guess what was chosen for him - All! It was about a 45 minute drive to the lake. He was thinking they'd be out there for an hour or so. He was so wrong...

Look at that face! They were out there six hours. The kids caught four fish. Guess what's for dinner tonight?

That six hours afforded me this:

Finished. It is much, much bigger than I planned. I do love it.

Though I bound it in the curtain material, I won't do it on the next one. The fabric is just too fragile.

...

And yes, it's delurking day. Leave a comment, would you? I don't bite...

Oh wow, I just read back a few posts (been in a funk myself) and saw the news. Something similar is almost certainly coming our way someday, and I know I'd feel like you do. Best of luck.

What a beautiful quilt. I once made a star quilt *square*, and it nearly killed me. Serious Kudo's to you :)

It turned out really nice. What a great way to preserve the memory!

I remember ice fishing with my dad at that age. What fun....and for you too!

Don't you just love the silence when the house is empty! It is when I do my best work and the most work!

I love the colors in your curtain quilt! Are you going to keep it or is it a gift?

BTW- I HATE to BASTE!

Hi! I'm still here.

Just read the last few posts, too (reader backlog as usual) -- I'm sure things will turn out great!

Also, love the new quilt!

What a beautiful quilt. Amazing how fast you make them. Good luck with the move **shudder** I hope your house is quick to sell.

You and your sister are so talented!
I love seeing what you come up with.

Best wishes on all the future changes, it will all be for the best. It's hard....I am the queen of hating CHANGE. But sometimes change is good :)

Love the quilt! What a great way to have something that reminds you of family! One of my friends just finished making quilts for herself, siblings and mom (5 lap quilts). Her dad died suddenly last year and always wore Hawaiian shirts, so she used them to make something to snuggle and remember him.

Your quilts and other handiwork are beautiful. Just dropped in to say hello and that I;ve been reading you for quite some time now. This is my first comment here, I believe.

Hi, delurking as instructed.

I love the quilts and am amazed how quickly you seem to put them together. Skilled hands and all that, I suppose.

I'm always poking my nose in here, no need to delurk.

That quilt is awesome. I'd fly out there and steal it from you but it's too light for me... besides, if I snuck in your house and tried to make off with it you'd hit me in the head with a sewing machine!

Love the quilt, G! Too pretty.

The ice fishing - well, it looks cold, but fun!

You know I am *thrilled* about your potential move, but I am selfish. :)

congratulations on finishing the quilt - it looks great! Don't you love when hubby takes the kids out?! My husband took our kids out today as well, but I spent the time house cleaning...
