Yea, well... It's not what they planned either.

Yesterday after gleefully sending the kids off, I tackled the Big Girl's room. Three bags of trash and three paper Target sacks of clothes later, it's ready. I did however leave the top dresser drawer alone. Everyone - even kids - need a junk drawer.

Sometime mid-afternoon, I got a call from my mom. Nothing to worry about, but the big girl's foot hurt a bit and upon examination Grandma noticed some whitish spots on the bottom of it. I passed along our insurance info, and they headed to the doctor.

Grandpa dropped them off and took the other two to the park.

While at the park, my youngest slipped and hit her nose on the play structure. Right between the eyes.

Grandpa immediately put ice on it - he happened to have a fountain Diet Coke - and rushed her to the doctor.

He felt horrible. I assured him that it just as easily could have happened to me as him. It's not if kids get hurt, it's when.

My oldest had no more gotten done learning that she has pressure blisters, than my youngest was ushered right to the same room. Rather than play the 'she's probably fine' game, the doctor ordered a set of x-rays to make sure that nothing was damanged - like her eye sockets.

Thankfully she's made of rubber, and all the x-rays look fine. They were given a list of things to look for, along with gently checking her every two hours during the night.

Two out of three isn't bad, right?

Well about the third...

At the park my Boy decided to see how many times he could spin in circles before he threw up.

The answer? A lot.

There you have it - the first day at Grandma and Grandpa's yielded two doctor's visits, five x-rays, and one episode of vomit.

...

Today?

Today they're all fine. Grandma bought the Big Girl some very cushy socks and shoes. No more flip-flops for her. The Boy? Upon learning his limit he's back to going forward and back on the swing. And my Baby? She's fine too, except for the two black eyes.

Your poor folks. And kids. And you.

Pressure blisters? How do you get those?

Hoping they all have a calm evening . . .

Oh wow. Glad they saved all that drama up for your folks instead of that split second they were with you between Grandparents, huh?
Good to hear today was much calmer.

Oh geez. Well, at least everyone survived. You should totally restock your parents' liquor cabinet after this visit, though. ;-)

Oh, man.
I did LOVE what you said about "WHEN" not "IF"

Totally, totally true.

Raising kids in one piece is more than enough to earn a head of gray hair.

I hear ya. The FIRST DAY my husband and I left my one-year-old daughter, she slipped and fell on my sister's hard tile floor, chipped her front tooth and got a concussion. Talk about mommy guilt.

Your parents are fabulous and cool cucumbers.

I hope the rest of the visit is great!
