Some things are best left to the experts

Yesterday was day one of my husband being gone. Again. Another week, his second in a row - gone. That's part of the gig, and one must go-with-the-flow or some nonsense like that.

I started in on the Market bags, and got eight cut and all laid out. Then I remembered that I had the Toddler's "Spring Conference" for preschool. Needless to say, she's doing all the things she's supposed to do and more. Yes, I'm very proud of my three year old.

Then we had a birthday party at Nickelodeon Universe! The new theme park in the Mall of America. One word: overpriced. The kids had fun, but the 'medium' soft drink for $3.50 about threw me over the edge. Anyway...

I had determined sometime between the conference and the birthday party that I 'needed' to freshen up my hair color.

This was not the desired result:
For what it's worth, the picture was taken first thing this morning. Right out of bed.

I was not going for The Bozo, but it's what I ended up with.

Now...

How do I fix this before Friday?

I think a 6' tall redhead is good! Not bozo.

the color isn't too bad in the pic! I'd use a brown to soften it up if it's to bold... but in the photo it actually compliments your complexion... pictures tend to lie sometimes tho!

hope it works out for you - could be worse it could be tang orange!

how do you fix it? either get to a professional--stat--or put a darker color on over it. NOTHING ASH. no "ash brown" or "dark ash blonde" or anything that suggests any ash/red tones. that will be a short-term fix. eventually it will fade out with washing and you may have to have a professional tend to it. oh--and you're going to need a very, very good conditioner, preferably a leave-in.

can you tell i've done this before, bozo?

Oh boy. I've done that before too, with red. Imagine that.

Have you called the 800 number on the box to see if they have any ideas? Have you tried washing it a bunch of times?

I'd call an expert...

Megan

PS We've been invited to a wedding in your neck of the woods 9/27. Trying to convince dh we need to go...will you lunch with me?

Tree - thanks!

Sarah - you are too kind!

Mitzi - the boxes went in the trash in a 'fit of rage' last night.

Megan- YES! Come see me! Email me when you have a chance...

As far as the hair goes - my kids think it's pretty cool. I did wash it twice this morning and a bunch more color came out. For right now, I'm giving it a week, and then I will have it fixed Saturday morning - my husband will be home, and I can relax...

I sat across from a guy who used that exact same color last night. I expect women to change their hair color but on 50-something men it is a bit disarming. P.S. It isn't as good on him as it is on you!

Glad to hear that more of the color came out this morning, I think it always looks more severe to the person to whom the hair belongs than everyone else!

Reds fade so quickly. I know I get them professionally done and well, it takes a few days for it to settle.

Oh and that's not bozo. I have curly hair. I end up looking like bozo.

Is it permanent color? If not, keep washing. But, I like it on you!

I haven't dyed my hair in more than 10 years, but once used a semi-permanent that was supposed to wash out in 28 days. It did not.

Probably because "black cherry" was intended for brunettes, and my medium-toned hair sucked up all the color. I ended up with light roots, but didn't care. It was the grunge years, afterall!

(My mom paid for me to have it fixed when I came home from college for the summer)

love it - don't change it - being a red-head is fun, trust me ;-)

I'm with Marnie. Redheads definitely have more fun.

I don't think you look like Bozo either, by the way...now this guy in our office does but his is way orangey. Not a good look on a 60-something man.

I like it! But if you want it to fade faster wash it a couple of times with dish soap. Yes it will rob you hair of moisture and you'll need a super intense conditioner afterwards, but it will also get out the color a lot faster than shampoo.
Yeah, I've done this a few times myself.
