Hump Day

The more things change...
Talked to my husband yesterday. He's working in San Diego through today. Asked what time he'd be home Wednesday, he responded that it wouldn't be Wednesday, it would be Thursday, as a quick trip to Seattle was thrown in. Ah yes. Thursday at midnight. Next week he should only be gone for two, at the most three, nights. This means I have an extra day to try and clean up the mess from the week. I still need to empty out the car from the road trip last weekend.

Good living...
Last week I was driving to pick up the boy from preschool. I saw the police officer too late. Cruising 42 in a 30.

My mind was elsewhere, worried about my sister (she was still critical in the hospital at this point) and just trying to get from point A to B.

He walked up beside the car.

"Do you know why I pulled you over?" I was going too fast, probably about 40, in a 30.

"Are you in a hurry?" Just trying to pick my son up from preschool.

"Is everything OK?" Not really, my sister's in the hospital and I've got my mind on other things.

"Can I see your license and proof of insurance?" Sure, um... here's my license, but I can't find the proof of insurance.

"Where are you living now?" I told him my address, as I still have my out of state license.

"How long have you lived there?" Long enough I should have a new license...

At this point. I stated to cry. I hate that. Really, I do. I'd much rather rely on a tight sweater.

He went back to his car, did whatever it is they do, came back and handed me my out of state license back along with a summons.

"Now, here's your license. I'd recommend that you get a new one as soon as possible. This is a summons for no proof of insurance. If you call this number, they'll ask you to fax or send a copy. At that point, it will be taken care of. Take care ma'am, and drive safely." Thank you and have a good day.

That's it. Good living around here, I tell you.

I took the summons home and put it in the office. My husband asked what it was. I told him I'd been pulled over for speeding, and I didn't have proof of insurance. That I needed to call that number and fax a copy. He asked about the ticket. What ticket? Didn't you get a ticket for speeding? No. He just looked at me, and shook his head.

Just the facts, Ma'am...
Last night I was sending some emails, and I saved myself from the classic 'overshare.' I have a tendency to, when someone shares information, respond with all sorts of verbal diarrhea. I managed not to this time, but I did save the three paragraphs - just in case.

If I was one of the recipients of your self-censorship, please share!!!

I was pulled over recently - speeding in a school zone. It came with a mandatory court appearance. So I went. OMG. It was terrible. I think all teenagers should be forced so spend a day in traffic court. So I applaud that you had a human officer!

I swear you kill me. I had a post already started this morning called "Verbal Diarrhea."

Maybe we were separated at birth.
