Happy Presidents' Day.

Except for the fact that I'm not looking to finance furniture or buy a car, it's just another day. Just another day with all three kids. No school. No preschool. Yikes.

The Big Girl's been invited to a birthday party this afternoon. It's at a water park. The Boy caught wind of it and has been pitching a fit most of the morning. Sorry hun, Life Is Not Fair. Well, until tomorrow when they have Wee One and Me time from 9:30 - 11:30 am. Guess what we're doing while the Big Girl is at school?

Last night I started curtains for the Big Girl's room. I should be able to finish them this morning during nap. Last night I had major issues trying to match the pattern. I'd bought about three times more fabric than I thought I needed, thinking I could make some pillows or something out of them. I'll still be able to, and probably have enough left over to edge a quilt I'm making for her. Crafty crap, it's what keeps me going.

Not much else, except I got my six mile run in this weekend. It's four miles from our house to the gym, so I had my father in law (they were visiting, but that's another post for another time) drive me to the gym. I did two miles on the treadmill and lifted a few light weights. Then I took off for home. Yea me. It has warmed up over the last couple days, so it was in the neighborhood of 15 degrees. The wind was blowing a little, so I did have to walk some of it - mostly going into the wind. You know what I thought of as I was running? How tall will the corn be in July... High as an elephant's eye?

sheesh, you're a friggin machine! I don't care how slow you run, at least you're running.
One of my "rewards" for getting under the 200# mark is a good pair of running shoes. I'm going to be fitted by a professional so that they're right for running. Then, I'm going to start the Couch to 5K program.
You are my new inspiration in this department!

6 miles? 6 miles? in 15 degrees and windy? what are you, the abominable snowmom?

it's about a quarter mile to the Big Park, and a mile around the track, and i walked that yesterday, but it was closer to 50 degrees here, and because the majority of the track was still covered in slush (which is about as easy to walk in as sand), i counted it as 2 miles.

you rock.

I'm with mitzi... 6 miles in 15 degrees... Now THAT's willpower! Keep it up G!

The boys' just learning that life's not fair... that's good stuff! Ah, the lessons of life as seen by our children... priceless!

{applauding} 6 miles AND weights, you go Gretchen! You definitely have a set of stones for doing it in the cold. BBrrrrrr.

sillychick - I've heard a lot of great things about couch to 5k. That's a great goal!

mitzi - good job on getting out in the slush. I know how you enjoy winter.

long island dad - it is hard sometimes to see them learn those lessons!

g-man - it really wasn't that bad, just had to walk into the wind.

greeblemonkey - I would, but I fear she'd blow right by me!
