Weighty Update

Mom-O-Matic has set up a little "support group" to discuss "healthy lifestyle changes" and "exercise." I joined the fray right away.

She calls it "Future MILFs." My first encounter with that acronym was the movie American Pie. The mom in question (Stifler's Mom) was played by Jennifer Coolidge. The thing I like about her character is that even though she wasn't particularly thin, she was very confident. I guess that's what I'm looking for: to be more confident in how I look - both in clothes and out.

Last Saturday, after being gone for a week, I weighed myself. Not good. After avoiding the gym for three weeks and not avoiding a single holiday treat (including homemade Anise Candy), I've ballooned up to 208.

Over the last week, I've moderated what I've been eating. I've also been drinking less Diet Coke and more water. I'm still needing to get back to the gym, but just not sitting in front of the computer so much makes a big difference in how active I am around the house.

This morning: 205.

Three pounds.

Good for you!

And yay, for reducing your Diet Coke, you are a stronger woman than I! I am trying to do the same thing, but that Diet Coke is just soooooo tempting.

I had resolved to start dieting again, (and man do I NEED to), but I caught the flu. I thought that would be a bad thing, but after a weigh in, I lost 5lbs. Nothing like having NO appetite to jumpstart a weightloss program! LOL

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

You sound so motivated and it is really good!!

3 pounds rocks! What plan are you doing? Just the "stop putting things in my mouth plan" or an actual diet. I mean "lifestyle change".

I think MILF just means feeling like a sexy mama. And I think you can be sexy at 205 or 208 you just have to feel it. At over 200 I don't feel it so I'm happy to be part of the Future MILFs!

Dude...the holidays make it rough. We're on our way now!

Keep up the good work!

I also need some gym motivation. My only time to go is at the butt crack of dawn before hubby leaves for work, and I have not found sufficient motivation lately to get my lazy arse out of bed!

I'll see less of you next week!

Okay, despite the fact you are already one of my favorite MILF's, I'm happy that you're taking these steps for yourself. Part of my goal for last year's resolutions was to keep off the 50 lbs. I'd lost the previous year and I did. But then...stepped on the scale last Wednesday and it was up 3 lbs. So this week it's been running every day and eating better. I've found myself letting my portion sizes creep up again so that's part of my challenge.

Plus my first 10K of the year is in 84 days. *gulp* My knees and feet will appreciate a few less pounds to tote!

I'm guessing that your hubby says that you are a current MILF. Judging by your photo (you can see you ass in the mirror as well as your face in the foreground, nice shot by the way) and what I have heard from my own lovely wife, you already have MILF like qualities. I'm sure that on your current regiment you will be 'Super MILF' in no time.

Missi - I said cutting back, not cutting out. Love the stuff with breakfast!

Lotta - Diet plan? Eat less, more whole grains, exercise more. At 6' a realistic weight for me is about 180.

M'Lynn - As far as the non-stop eating goes, I'm really glad the holidays are over.

Jenifer - Since I'm home, I've found a reasonably priced gym with daycare, so I really don't have any excuse no to go. I'd never make it if I had to get up early.

Builder Mama- I know I can lose the weight, it's keeping it off. You are my inspiration in how to keep it off - three pounds and you know you need to do something about it!

g-man - you are too kind. Really, too kind.

Mommeee - Thanks!

QOTM - Thanks! For me, weight, like age, is what you make of it. I'm not happy where I'm at, but looking to where I'm going.

hehehe I read MILF and nearly spat my coffee out! Love it :D

Good luck in your quest though - I'm hoping to become less wobbly this year as well, though there aren't terms like MILF for us blokes!

You go Mama! I love your perception of Milf- I thought Jennifer Coolidge was the sexiest thing in that movie! I am so excited to see how this has motivated everyone! See (less) of you soon!

G - I know you can do it! And you know you can count on me for support. Your dad is a huge inspiration, too.

WTG G!!!!

Just cutting out the little crap all day long (that cup of cocoa once I hit my office, one pack of oatmeal instead of two, passing the bagels, cookies, candies that LITTER our office) has made a 5 pound difference this week for me. January it's eating habits, February it's working out on a consistent basis (baby steps!!).

Really, it doesn't have anything to do with someone mentioning the word "Caribbean" at our dinner with dh's business partners last week... LOL!

Found your blog off of Dan's blog tonight! Now, that is a FUN GUY!! I love his blog and I go to it several times a day...

I need to drop about 20 lbs since I had my baby 20 months ago... but since I'm home all day.. I pick all day ...

I am trying that Hoodia right now ...
and it's great... I love it...
BUT
My problem is that I eat when I feel any stress... and I eat when I am excited ... I eat for every occasion... so ..THAT IS TROUBLE.
